Part 3, y’all! The only three episodes NOT directed by Ben Stiller, but Aoife McArdle. Three guesses how to pronounce that name. … Yeah, I didn’t get it right, either.

Wine Pairings
Dallas’ Pairing
2021 Cantine Barbera Notrix Perricone Terre Siciliane (Sicily, Italy)
Grape varieties: Perricone 90%, Catanese 10%
Organic, Biodynamic, Natural, and Vegan
A lively ruby color with a nose of red berries and geranium flowers. Its solid tannins define a medium-bodied palate, where spicy notes of star anise and ginger stand out against a saline background. 12-13% ABV
Dave’s Pairing
2019 Red Newt Cellars Cabernet Franc, Glacier Ridge Vineyard, Finger Lakes, New York
Following Dallas’ lead on pairing a Cab Franc for Episodes 1-3, I had to jump in on that varietal but from an even cooler climate for Eps 4-6! Very stylish, Chinon-ish fruit with hints of anise, green olives, and tea. Excellent cool climate style with no oak influence on the nose at all.
September 2019 in the Finger Lakes was warm, sunny, dry, with a nearly perfect September and a crisp October that gave grapes both ripe flavors and refreshing acidity. Compared to the struggles of 2018, 2019 was a much needed return to form.
Any cool climate Cab Franc will likely do, though this one from Glacier Ridge vineyards contains a smoky, earthy dimension that that are often associated with that vineyard site and which truly pairs with the noir-style of these episodes!
