Today we tackle the 2017 movie FIRST MAN directed by Damien Chazelle (WHIPLASH, LA-LA-LAND) and starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy, a biopic about Neil Armstrong and the first moon landing.
This is a fascinating movie, taking a muted, minimalist approach to what is usually a rah-rah America First anthem of an event. The movie carries both the weight and lightness of silence. At turns dark and heavy and strangely weightless like the vacuum of space.
We're joined by special guest, new father and otherwise actor, CURTISS FRISLE (yes, Curtiss with two "esses", that's not a typo!)
Curtiss has appeared on Criminal Minds, Robot Ninja & Gay Guy, the horror movie Don't Blink, 9-1-1 Lone Star, Danger Force, and he also co-starred in a short film I produced in 2017 (same year as First Man!), Extra School, opposite Bruce Davison and Robert Picardo.
