okay, maybe this will get me to watch "Severance." Everyone loves it, but I had a really hard time with the first episode and couldn't get through it all.

It's soooooo good. Though most folks seem to be hooked ont he first episode alone, so it's possible you're a rare bird the show just isn't going to click with. That said, I'd recommend toughing it out to the end of eisode 3. If the show is still cold and distant and not much else after all 3 eps, no need to torture yourself further!

Great pick for your first TV show, absolutely love Severance. Stoked to hear what you come up with for pairings. Something... dark perhaps?

You'll be surprised! Don't forget half the show is under mind-numbingly bright office flourescents (and then the outside world seems perpetually dark, always the after work hours.) We shifted wines after few episodes as the story evolved, and the directors traded off, which did seem to effect the approach in vertain ways. It was fascinating to pay attention to and catch it. But soon!

Also, it was easy to find, but you forgot to link the YT video in here I think!

It's actually there at the bottom, on the list of "other places" to get this podcast. It's an audio pod, so you can listen to it here at the top of this post directly, or on Apple Podcats, Spotify, etc. or also YouTube!

Oh I was referring to the short film you guys talked about that Dan Erickson wrote!

Oooohhhh, snap! You’re so right! Fixed! It’s now included here and should populate out to the other podcast platforms in about an hour or so. This is the danger with sitting on episodes for months and forgetting the fine details! Bless ya.

Oh cool, I must live under a rock, I had never heard of this show. But- I admit I usually watch British mystery series only, so excited to listen along with these.

It's an Apple TV+ show, honetsly Apple has a wildly solid track record for original content so far, but it's a platform you only know about if you're a subscriber, so if you're not, it's somewhat easy to be in the dark. But this show alone is worth a month's subscription. Wait for Season 2 to drop in January 2025, then pull that trigger!

Ahhh I don’t have apple tv- did the trial for Ted Lasso (which I despised- actually so did my partner and we may be the only ones) I had to let go of many subscriptions our tv/internet bill was up to $300 a month 🙄 bc we need ALL the soccer ones. Ha

Oh wow, Ted Lasso haters! That's not even being on a desert island, that's like being on a desert island in the Bermuda Triangle! Ain't no one can find you let alone joiin you. ;P There are def too many streaming services, which is why we're in the contraction we're in now - some will fade away, and in the interim, you gotta hopscotch between services. Pause one, restart another, then switch back, etc.

Ha we love soccer so we found it to be an average show and if the main character Ted Lasso wasn’t in it we both thought it would be a lot more tolerable. We had to mute his dialogue he was just so over the top obnoxious 😂

Oh i never thought about the pause feature!

I think whenever we take a topic too seriously / sincerely, it’s hard to have fun with it. Just like how wine people tend to be the biggest critics of Drops of God (another Apple TV show, now that I think about it!) It’s hard to allow fictional flights of fancy with something, even though when you think about it, why would we want fiction to just be another documentary on the subject? At least part of the point should be to do things the real world wouldn’t!

And just note to keep track of pausing, if you do it. Because they’re usually set to unpause automatically at a specified date!
