Technically a "Night" holiday, not a "Day" holiday, Open That Bottle Night is celebrated the last Saturday of February

Never heard of “Open That Bottle Night”? Yeah, us niether. But we loved the concept behind it:
This special day/night has been celebrated on the last Saturday of February, every year since 1999. Begun by the then-Wall Street Journal Wine Columnists John Brecher and Dorothy Gaiter, the event has since gone worldwide. It is a call to open that special bottle with friends and share the experience, instead of letting it continue to sit in the cellar.
Naturally, we turned it into “Open That Bottle, Read That Comic” Day/Night (we choose?) Part of this holiday’s purpose is to SHARE the bottle with friends or loved ones. Essentially, stop hoarding shit and pass it around like a nice human. That’s a bit harder to do with a comic/book, but what else are digital shows good for, if not for sharing whether others like it or not?

As you can see, Brunellos tend to be pricey, though deals are out there if you wait for them. We have a “Baroque vs. Bargain” blind tasting of Brunellos coming in the future (I’ve collected all the bottles for it already!) But the dirt cheapest I could get my hands on was $23, whereas our usual “Bargain” price cut-off is $15 and under. But for certain wines, due to how difficult they are to make and how small the output, the price can only go so low.
